Passion of the Christ (and a bowl full of oxy's)

With Easter and Easter coming up, I decided to sit down with a bowl full of oxycontins with a 5th of JD and watch Passion of the Christ for the first time last night..I made it through the whole movie without overdosing or throwing up (not because of the drugs)..

As a movie, I thought it was very well made, and extremely emotional. I give it 3.5 stars out of 4, couldn't turn away from it, and I believe most of the event that occurred in the movie to be true--Except for the last 30 seconds, of course. For those that don't know, Good Friday is when Jesus died, and Easter is when he supposedly resurrected from the dead (all the blood was gone and he was wearing clean white clothing.. but still had nail holes in his hand- go figure).

If you didn't know before, you now know that I am Atheist--and proud of my ability to have a free mind. I will say that Passion of The Christ didn't have any impact on what I currently think. The movie itself however, was very powerful. I believe there was a dude named Jesus--There is way to much evidence for someone not to believe he actually existed, however, it ends there for me..For me, he was similar to the modern day David Koresh, or any other wack job that thinks he is a prophet/Lamb/Son of God/God himself, or whatever.
Of course these are my personal thoughts, and I am not here to influence anyone even though I truly believe I AM CORRECT AS MUCH AS A BELIEVER THINKS HE IS CORRECT, I strongly believe that everyone should be able to believe in what they want without consequence. I disagree with what many believe happened to Jesus, AFTER he was murdered.

Jesus was a Jew. He was a Jewish carpenter and didn't have long ass hair and pale white skin (go to Israel and find a native Jew that looks like Jesus). He broke away from Judaism and started up his own little thingy now known as Christianity. At the time (just like David Koresh) He was able to get people drunk and high and convince them that he was Son of God--Many scholars believe that the real Jesus was quite as asshole, and didn't treat many of his followers nicely. Some scholars also think he molested children--whats up with all the child abuse and Christianity (more profound in Catholics) anyway??? Jesus was subsequently tortured and murdered for his beliefs (Just like David Koresh). There are scholars who believe his torture was due to this cruel behavior he inflicted on many people including child abuse, in addition to starting up his own sect and betraying Judism. I believe that what happened to Jesus, and David Koresh was somewhat wrong--But only in the way it was handled (no real trial - According to the movie, the Romans soldiers were pressured by Jews to kill Jesus or the town would go into an upheavel. The Jews wanted him dead) I believe they both got what was eventually coming to them. That they deserved it.. As far as Koresh is concerned, our Government went way to far, and should have waited him and his followers out, and then put them all on on trial for their sick ass crimes against children etc..If found guilty, then I would advocate burning the motherfuckers.

2 billion+ people are Christian or belong to a branch of Christianity (Catholic, Methodist, Baptist etc etc). I think I am correct when I say that Christianity remains the most dominant religion of the world, and is growing rapidly. I guess the fear of death is really getting to people lately hm?

Anyhow, have you seen the movie? Are you a believer? What are your thoughts about the whole thing ?

I realize many here are also Atheist, however, we do have members who are Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and who knows what else, including a handful of Satanists. I don't have a problem saying what you believe in, however, NO PERSONAL ATTACKS ON SOMEONE'S BELIEFS/NON BELIEFS. thank u

I've seen the movie. When it came out Me, my family and my parents friends and their family went to the movie theater, I wasn't aloud to see it until years after but the day we went to the movie theatre, My parents saw the movie while i was sent to a movie about gang lords and drugs with sexual content, i was below 7 at that time i think( what good parents they are right ) When they came out a whole crowd of people came out crying. Hell even my dad cried and he got out before it even ended and his well his idk.......... anyways it was a good movie IMO

I think it's the only movie he has prduced/directed?? not positive, could be wrong but my fav mel gibson movie lethal weapon and braveheart was his best evar.

it didnt look good with him getting arrested for drunkeness after he made Passion with him screaming and yelling anti-semitic stuff lol

Soze, I think that it is ironic that Satan laughed. He failed there, Christ was innocent, and died, therefore making the final sacrifice. xD

Yes, I agree. Jesus wasn't white. He had a big beard, big nose, and probably was a big guy. He was a carpenter after all.

I have seen the movie, and loved it. There wasn't anything in there that I found to be out of line. Yea, even the rising part was true. As for the hand marks, well they knew their stuff when they made the movie. In the bible Thomas stuck his hands into the holes from the nails. Therefore, they had to be there.

There was a lot of pain in that movie, and a lot below the surface. Anyone can be tortured by physical means, but what Jesus went through was much more than physical. He knows everyone, and knows them better than we know our self. But what really hurt him was knowing that much of his suffering would be wasted, that many would still deny him, run from him, and refuse to act in his example. That is what hurt him the most.

My question is if the Catholic church, the christian church, has no point, is all a bunch of baloney, then why do we have Pope John Paul 2? Mother Theresa? Why would these people, these real people spend their entire lives in service to God? And why do people flock to John Paul 2? How did he find it in himself to forgive his assassin, to visit people that would like him dead? To me, because John Paul knew about Christ, and asked WWJD?
