Hey guys, I picked up my brothers old acoustic guitar today. So I was wondering if any of you knew some tips to help get me started. Like video tutorials, sites that helped you, and general music goody goodyness.
(NOTE: My current skill level is very low. I can read piano sheet music, but as far as guitar goes I am clueless. So if you recommend tutorials please remember I may not be able to use the tutorial for awhile)

Blehhh. Honestly, the first few days are the hardest. What you have to do is learn to read guitar tab and just play chords over and over and over and over and over. And after that you can progress. Once you learn to read tab you can start playing little riffs from songs you like, and attempting bigger stuff. Youtube is sometimes helpful for learning fingerings and I learned from a LOT of youtube videos at first, but especially for acoustic the biggest thing is just to start nailing some chords. The riffs will come, but if you know about 6 or 8 basic chords, (basically C-B and F#) you can play an enormous number of songs. In terms of learning off the internet, that's how I'd suggest it at first. If you have books I'd say being able to sight read sheet music is nice, but if not guitar tab is easiest to find free. We can talk moar on xfire with bigmac, kid's got skills and I'm only mediocore so we need him. ;p PS: Once you figure out what barre chords are, start playing them. And early. They take a loooonnggg time to get especially if you have small hands.

Note for you hypnos, When you first learn Kryptonite only learn the chords and play around with your strumming patterns. Then once you get good at it, learn the picking and arpegio's to the song
